Alex Prager's "Despair" featuring Bryce Dallas Howard

I mentioned Alex Prager not so long ago and now I have discovered this amazing film she has created of Bryce Dallas Howard (from the latest Twilight). I love the mix of Hitchcock and Cindy Sherman. Enjoy! :)

Rene Gruau

Rene Gruau was a fashion illustrator and worked very closely with Christian Dior. I find something very striking about his illustrations. I find him to be an extension of Toulouse Lautrec however Gruau's direction was more aestheticism rather than ideology. Feast your eyes on this visual smorgasbord.

No. Magazine Halloween Party

On Halloween No Magazine and Lonely Hearts held one of the best halloween parties I have ever been to! It was such a great vibe and everyone really made the effort to dress up and not just that but everyone looked awesome which shows through the video one of my best friends made for the party!

No Magazine is a really cool mag that profiles interesting and creative people from New Zealand and abroad.

Lonely Hearts is a local New Zealand label that has always been aesthetically beautiful and original and makes me proud to be a New Zealander. Their clothes are great for any occasion! Here is a few of my favourites from their latest collection entitled Love All.

Artists Collaborate on Tarot Cards

(source: artinfo)
This project is entitled "Contemporary Magic: A Tarot Deck Art Project" and is curated by Stacey Engman. The private opening of this exhibition was held at the National Art Club in New York. I am so incredibly smitten with this collaboration! The above images are only a few of the artists that contibuted. I love the feel that I get from these, part mysticism and part pop.

El Guincho

(Holy Mountain 1973)
I came across this video a few weeks ago and was instantly drawn to its amazing visual beauty and the way it perfected mirrored El Guincho fun, tropical 'dance til your feet are sore' beats. El Guincho is a really fun band and I had blast watching him play live when he came to NZ and played at Cassette bar. The great thing about this clip is that it reminded me of Alejandro Jodorowsky and the level of mysticism he conveys through his films.

!!! (Chk Chk Chk)

I really dig !!! (Chk Chk Chk). They are amazing live and I was lucky enough to catch them when they played at King's Arms in 2008. And now they are coming back to our shores for Laneway's festival. Buy your tickets now -> here

This new video is also very sweet and I get the strongest Charlotte Gainsbourg vibe from the girl in it. Although don't be fooled because it's not actually her. Enjoy! :)

Getting Nailed

(source : Janet Riffe)
(Katy Perry's Nails at the VMA's)

Ever since I saw Katy Perry's nails at the VMA's I have been obsessed with nail art. My favorite would have to be the fast food nails at the top. I do have to point out that it is a little bit creepy having your man's pictures emblazoned on your fingernails especially one that features him in women's lingerie.

Barbara Kruger

(Source: CoverJunkie)
November it seems is the month of Barbara Kruger. I have always loved her work and now her artwork is featured on the November issue of W and Juxtapoz. I first heard of Barbara Kruger in my 7th form Art History class when we were learning about feminist artists. I love the power that her work gives the (female) reader and the way that it still remains somewhat aesthetically beautiful. Check out Barbara Kruger for yourself!
